There was a few solutions discussed a few weeks ago (rebooting from
osx to linux, booting with the VGA pluged in, ...). You should check the
archive.

Also you could check my recent mail:

I am not sure if this modified tool is able to switch on the vga output
but at least it is able to switch off and back on the lcd. For now I
have no screen to do more testing, but it could work (it works for M6
but I guess you have a M7 based ATI chip).
