Re: Asus L3000 laptop, fun but a bit strange.

Hi Bengt,

yes, I have a Dell Latitude c610 with a Radeon M6 LY (16MB) graphics
adapter. I'm using xfree86-common version 4.1.0-16 [1] which works fine
with this adapter as long as I don't go over 1024x768@60 Hz. Above, my
Dell fails to turn off my LCD. :-(

I want to more things that I haven't (yet?) accomplished:
- use 1280x1024@85Hz on a CRT and 1024x768@60Hz on the LCD in parallel
- co-operate with my docking station [2]

I attached my XF86config files. I'm currently using XF86config.lcd, the
others contain some leftovers of my efforts to accomplish both things
listed above. At the office, I work around the problem with running an
X server on some other box that connects to my laptop. Not satisfactory
but it works.

Ofcourse I'd *love* to hear any bright ideas on how to fix this! :-) In
any case, hope this helps you.

Auke

 1. I thought I was using the version from unstable but looking it up
shows this version to be currently in stable. So much for
     memory... ;-)
 2. In contrary to practically every other laptop, Dell's don't have a
hardware solution to turn off the display so even on
1280x1024@60Hz, the damn LCD stays on. :-(
