Wireless PCMCIA card not working in ThinkPad A20P

I have a ThinkPad A20P that I just bought and I am
trying to get both the internal wired NIC and an
Orinoco Silver PCMCIA card working. Both work under
Windoze 2000 and under Knoppix, but not Debian "stable".

All that was necessary to get it working under Knoppix
was to add the appropriate section in /etc/network/interfaces
for both NIC's and restart "networking".

I am running Debian stable with kernel 2.4.21, since I read
that 2.4.21 supported this card well. I put "orinoco_cs"
in "/etc/modules" since the modules that Knoppix used were
"hermes", "orinoco" and "orinocol_cs".

The end of "dmesg"
where the wireless card appears looks like:
 hermes.c: 4 Dec 2002 David Gibson <hermes@gibson.dropbear.id.au>
 orinoco.c 0.13b (David Gibson <hermes@gibson.dropbear.id.au> and others)
 orinoco_cs.c 0.13b (David Gibson <hermes@gibson.dropbear.id.au> etc)
so the modules are loaded but they do not appear to find the
wireless NIC.

Any ideas about what I could try, or what further information I would need
to provide for the experts would be appreciated.
