I just spent a lot of time figuring this out. You have the right
version of 8139too - earlier versions didn't allow setting the
parameters.
Since you have a 2.4 kernel, you can use ethtool:
apt-get install ethtool
ethtool -s eth0 speed 10 duplex half autoneg off
For cards configured with /etc/network/interfaces, you just add a line
to the interfaces file, like this:
up ethtool -s eth0 speed 10 duplex half autoneg off
I think that your PC card is configured with that file -- I use it to
configure my wireless card. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.
