LAN Adapter cant configure it

Hi i’m desperate!

i like to connect to the inet but connection fails:

message reads:

eth0: unknown interface: no such device

pppoe: ioctl(SIOCIFHWADDR): No such devide

in KDE2.2 is an application: ADSL/PPPOE configuration:

it tells that it found 1 ethernet device: tap0 or tap() = more likely

and I con load card drivers manually what I do:

I select net

I select sis900  - SiS 900/7016 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter support

yes to “Install this in kernel?”

I write in command-line: AUTO_CONFIG (I also left it empty! some other time!)

message:

/lib/modules/2.2.20/net/sis900.o: init_module: Divice or resource busy

Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters

/lib/modules/2.2.20/net/sis900.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.2.20/net/sis900.o failed

/lib/modules/2.2.20/net/sis900.o: insmod sis900 failed

Installation failed.

What now? I didn’t find out!

before I used W2K prof  and here is the installation stuff:

Double click

"SiS 900 PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter"

   then a properties page appears.

5. Click "Advanced" tab.

6. Here, you can set the following properties:

   <1>. EthernetMediaType

             100BaseTX

             100BaseTX Full_Duplex

             10BaseT Full_Duplex

             10BaseT

AUTO_CONFIG   ;Default value if not set

   <2>. NetworkAddress

Override the adapter's Ethernet address. Legal values are

xx-xx-xx-xx-xx-xx, where xx is a hexadecimal byte value.

Unless necessary, do NOT modify this field and let the

system use the default Ethernet address contained in the

             serial ROM on the adapter.

Please help me!

Manfred
