usb printer won't print

This is not strictly a laptop question, it's a bit more of a generic ahhhhh!
why won't it work! thing.

I am running 2.4.18 with Debian 3 and I can't get my Lexmark Z25 to print.
Looking in syslog finds the printer detected and the Printer Manager shows it
detected on /dev/usb/lp0 too.

However, the /proc/bus/usb/devices file is empty.
When I send a print job it says the job was sent sucessfully but nothing
reaches the printer. The status light soesn't flash for data and nothing
prints.

Any help is most appreciated. I have included the part of my .config file
relating to usb below.

Thank you for your time.

Andrew
