First off high jacking a topic like you did, is a bad thing.
(check out lists.debian.org archives and you'll see why).

As for what you are trying to do, try this:

$> mount /foppy

if that don't work then:

$> mount -t vfat /dev/fd0 /mnt (think the syntax is right
I just use mount /floppy most of the time).
