Now Im stuck with anotgher problem (honestly, I was from the very beginnig ...): When I try to start up gnome from the commandline with the command "gnome.session" I get the error message: dev/dsp no such device. Does anyone have an Idea what this means, and how to get gnome start from the commandline?

That is the sound device used by esd the Enlightened Sound Daemon. I
have had problems with it in the past but it certainly shouldn't stop
the rest of Gnome loading.

Do you have X installed and xdm/gdm? You need a login manager to login
to gnome.
