There is a font deuglification mini-HOWTO:
http://localhost/doc/HOWTO/en-html/mini/FDU/index.html
if you have the HOWTOS installed locally.

Also, consider adding something like to /etc/X11/XftConfig like this:

#
# Sub-pixel rendering
#
match edit rgba = rgb;
