Sony Vaio 680: IrDA to Nokia 7110 and IrDA to Nokia 6310 - whats the difference?



Problem: I can use Nokia 7110 as modem via IrDA and cannot do the same
thing with Nokia 6310. Can someone share a useful hint with me? What is the
difference between handsets? M.b. I can tweak my IrDA config somehow?
(Sorry for a long post) 

Setup: Sony Vaio PCG-680K notebook, kernel 2.4.18-686 and irda* from
unstable, infra-red in FIR mode using nsc-ircc.o. Both phones show up in
discovery log (as shown by irda). But when I try to dial up through Nokia
6310, i see this:
