PCMCIA issues on a Tecra8100

I have a Tecra 8100 and networking works. I am running sid. When I built
the machine, it was plugged into the port replicator/docking station,
however, when I take it home and plug the ethernet into the pcmcia slot
(which is using a Xircom RealPort 16), once the machine is booted, I
have to immediately restart pcmcia to get networking up and running.

It works but its an inconvenience. Has anyone encountered such a
problem, and how does one go about fixing it?

Thanks,

Your threat environment should dictate your security posture. You
generally
don't see Mayberry-style small-town police forces toting automatic
weapons
and anti-aircraft missiles. By the same token, a sling and stones hasn't
worked in a combat environment since David's time and he had God's help.
