I don't know if this is an alternative or not.  I have used a pc to cf
adaptor and placed something like a socket lopower ethernet cf card in
the adaptor.  The socket card is ne2000 compatible; in fact I use it on
my ipaq running familiar linux with great results.  I wonder if an
adaptor would fit in the laptop?
