Haven't seen your original message; however, such interruptions in the
boot process often point to problems while resolving IP
addresses. Have a look for
o hostnames in /etc/exports which are not in /etc/hosts
o hostnames instead of ip addresses e.g. in /etc/network/interfaces
o missing '-n' switch in any kind of listings (such as 'route',
'ipchains', 'traceroute'
o that there is no default route if your network is down
If you are running your own (caching?) nameserver, send the process a
'killall -WINCH named' and watch the output in syslog.
