is APM working on Compaq Presario 12XL509?

Hi,
I have Compaq Presario 12XL509 it servers me quite well for few months,
but I still can't get working APM on it.

APM in any case just say:
	semicek:~$apm
	AC on-line, no system battery
or
	semicek:~$cat /proc/apm
	1.14 1.2 0x03 0x01 0xff 0x80 -1% -1 ?
doesn't matter if running on AC or battery ... so I have no idea about
remaing runtime when on batteries and it is *realy* stresing sometimes.
Computer usualy beep few minutes before battery is empty but it is realy
anoing to one second work and second watch black display, realy anoing ;)

It is realy hard to find correspondig informations, because Compaq calls
'Presario' their notebooks from 486 times :(

On Linux-Laptop are listed similar models and no one is talking about apm
there, it looks that is perfectly working for everybody ... except me.

Here is set of APM fetures of enabled in kernel:
	semicek:~/iproj/kernel/linux-2.4.10$grep APM\\\|ACPI .config
	# CONFIG_ACPI is not set
	CONFIG_APM=y
	# CONFIG_APM_IGNORE_USER_SUSPEND is not set
	CONFIG_APM_DO_ENABLE=y
	CONFIG_APM_CPU_IDLE=y
	CONFIG_APM_DISPLAY_BLANK=y
	CONFIG_APM_RTC_IS_GMT=y
	CONFIG_APM_ALLOW_INTS=y
	# CONFIG_APM_REAL_MODE_POWER_OFF is not set

Kernel is 2.4.10ac8. I was tring it with PCMCIA and without it, still
same.

Another problem is that after atempt to suspend it, it dies. After `apm
- -s` it switch display off, drive off simply said it looks like switched
off, but switch-on switch isn't working I have to disconect AC and remove
battery ... realy nasty ...

I was so stupid that I completly wiped out that preinstaled M$ ME crap, I
just write down HW specs like audio/video ... and then installed real OS
there. I was while happy how Compaq is polite that they give me restore CD
... not so long after first problem with APM I decide put ME back and
check if it is working at least under it ... that @#$% restore CD have
only 1.5MB ... restore data were on second partion ... that system have
only 6GB drive ... I can't understand who can be so stupid, to design it
this way ...

Well, enought of crying ... is here anyone who is using this, or similar
model? I realy need help.

Thanks
