alsa for laptop

My latptop (Dell latitude CPi DX300XT) is runing
potato with kernel 2.2.17.I want to make sound work.
I went to alsa homepage, downloaded alsa-driver-0.4.1e.tar.gz,
alsa-lib-0.4.1e.tar.gz,alsa-utils-0.4.1.tar.gz,and extracted
in /usr/src/.I extracted kernel-source-2.2.17 in /usr/src/linux.
I went into alsa-driver-0.4.1e to do following things:
./configure
make
make install.
Here the errors:
1.syntex error
failed(probably missing /usr/src/linux/include/linux/version.h
I copied version.h somewhere, but make got errors such as
make[1]:[persist.o] Error
What's wrong with me?

2.In alsa-utils-0.4.1 directory, ./configure gave this errors:
checking for libasound headers version >=0.1.1...not present.
configure error:Sufficiently new version of libasound not found.
What I'm missing?

Any one has any suggenstion for my installation of debian?
I appreciate any reply.
