Re: Laptop Dell Latitude CPx 650 with Debian Potato 2.2

Hi,

About XIRCOM:
-------------

Actually, 2.4.0 has a problem with filling /var/lib/pcmcia/stab
correctly (bugview 78391). The card itself works, but the automatic
configure scripts fail to work (/dev/modem links to /dev/tulip_cb, which
doesn't exist, and dhclient statrs with wrong parameters), so you have to
do it manually (dhclient eth0, ln -s ttyS2 modem). I have 3.1.22-2
pcmcia-cs with 2.4.0-test11.

There is no problem with tulip <-> xircom_tulip if you compile pcmcia
stuff static (at least in test11). It complains about not finding the
modules, but it's just another x line in syslog ;)

X4 vs ATI:
----------

I have the latest woody X4, and xf86cfg fails to run:

(++) Using config file: "/root/XF86Config.new"
Parse error on line 43 of section Modes in file /root/XF86Config.new
        This section must have an Identifier line.
(EE) Problem parsing the config file
...
(==) Log file: "/var/log/XFree86.8.log", Time: Thu Nov 30 18:43:06 2000
(++) Using config file: "/root/XF86Config.new"
Parse error on line 43 of section Modes in file /root/XF86Config.new
        This section must have an Identifier line.
(EE) Problem parsing the config file
(EE) Error from xf86HandleConfigFile()

Fatal server error:
no screens found

Can anybody help? Pleeeease ... or can anybody give me a working X4 config
file with ATI Mobility? (I have the same laptop as $SUBJECT)

Best regards, Gyula Lukacs
