PCMCIA networkcard not working

Hi,

I've installed Debian 2.2 on my laptop but I'm having problems with my
network card.
I had SuSE 6.1 for a while and the networkd card was running on SuSE
after I've compiled
the pcnet_cs.c again (comes on a disk with the networkcard). I had to
compile it again
using the sources of the pcmcia-3.1.14 but then it worked.

I have only configured the card in /etc/pcmcia/configure and after that
the modules
are loaded and I get a high and then a low beep. It looks like I'm only
missing a little thing
I am still using the standard kernel that comes with the debian
distribution (don't remember the
name - I picked it during the installation) It's a 2.2.15 kernel. PCMCIA
is 3.1.8

Here's the part in daemon.log when I restart pcmcia:

Jul 18 05:40:39 mps cardmgr[156]: starting, version is 3.1.8
Jul 18 05:40:39 mps cardmgr[156]: watching 2 sockets

/lib/modules/2.2.15/pcmcia/pcnet_cs.o'
Jul 18 05:40:40 mps cardmgr[156]: get dev info on socket 1 failed: No
such device

Does anybody know what that means ? Am I missing something in my kernel
?

Any help is greatly appreciated...

Jens
