There's a package called ted that you may want to check out.  I think
it's available in potato.  It's an RTF editor.  It looks like a pretty
decent lightweight editor (top lists it as taking up a whole 5MB of
memory).  Although it certainly won't have all the fancy features you
would find in OpenOffice, it has all the basics.  Except that it seems
to only support four fonts (Courier, Times, Helvetica, and Symbol).
