Re: Bug#895043: libgtk-3-0: unexplained downstream patch disables VIQR input method in Vietnamese locales

Although at the moment it seems like we do not have enough resources to cover the territory, I will try to check back on the upstream bug report every now and then to follow up on any user-related questions that might arise.

Best,

I believe the result of the Debian/Ubuntu patch is that VIQR is not the
default for any locale, but can still be used. (But I could be wrong -
please could someone who knows more about input methods try this?)

If your reasons to want VIQR to not be the default are valid for
Debian, then they seem like they should be equally valid for upstream,
so I've opened <https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gtk/issues/183>. If
upstream have queries about this patch, it would be great if someone
from debian-l10n-vietnamese could respond there directly - I don't know
anything about Vietnamese (I'm just trying to reduce Debian's divergence
from upstream), so I don't have much to contribute to this topic.
