<p>Debian has a bug tracking system (BTS) in which we file
details of bugs reported by users and developers. Each bug is given a
number, and is kept on file until it is marked as having been dealt
with.</P>

<h2>Bug tracking system documentation</h2>

<ul>
  <li><a href="Reporting">How to report a bug in Debian</a>

<h2>Viewing bug reports on the WWW</h2>

<p>Find a bug by <strong>number</strong>:

<h2>Searching bug reports</h2>

<p>Probably the easiest way to search bug reports is to use
<a href="http://groups.google.com/group/linux.debian.bugs.dist";>Google Groups</a>.
The period to be searched can be limited by using the
<a href="http://groups.google.com/advanced_search?q=+group%3Alinux.debian.bugs.dist";>\
advanced search</a> option.</p>

<p>Alternative sites that allow searching for bug reports are
<a href="http://dir.gmane.org/gmane.linux.debian.devel.bugs.general";>Gmane</a> and
<a href="http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-bugs-dist%40lists.debian.org/";>The
Mail Archive</a>.</p>

<h2>Supplementary information</h2>

<p>The current list of <a href="http://bugs.debian.org/release-critical/";>
Release Critical Bugs</a>.</p>

<p>The current list of <a href="pseudo-packages">pseudo-packages</a>
recognized by the Debian bug tracking system.</p>

<p>The following bug report indices are available:

<ul>
  <li>Packages with
      <a href="http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgindex.cgi?indexon=pkg";>active</a>
      and
      <a href="http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgindex.cgi?indexon=pkg&amp;archive=yes";>archived</a>
      bug reports.
  <li>Source packages with
      <a href="http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgindex.cgi?indexon=src";>active</a>
      and
      <a href="http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgindex.cgi?indexon=src&amp;archive=yes";>archived</a>
      bug reports.
  <li>Maintainers of packages with

      and
      <a href="http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgindex.cgi?indexon=maint&amp;archive=yes";>archived</a>
      bug reports.
  <li>Submitters of

      bug reports.

<p><strong>Note:</strong> some of the previously available indices of bug
reports aren't available due to internal problems with the program that
generated them. We apologize for the inconvenience.
