ERROR COMPILACION KERNELL 2.0.30

Hola a todos:

Tengo DEBIAN 1.3.1 con kernel 2.0.29 y he cargado del cdrom el kernel
source 2.0.30.  lo compilo :

cd /usr/src/linux
make config
make dep
make clean
make zImage

Al terminar make zImage sale el siguiente error:

                     boot sector 512 bytes
                    setup is 4380 bytes
                     system is 593 kB
                     system is too big
                     error 1
                     error 2

alguien sabe como solucionas esto
