yes, I would really recommend doing the minimum, here, so
s/mode/number

...which indeed will break all translations and might require an extra
translation round to fix introduced fuzzies (maybe not for all
translations: for instance, in fr.po, I used "nombre" which is indeed
adequate with "number"....).

Wouter, do you agree with s/mode/number, then?
