The first time, or both?  We need a "Debian" somewhere in that last
bit to clarify that it's not talking about upstream changelogs.  We
could say:

      extracting the relevant entries from the changelog.Debian and
      NEWS.Debian files.

(Except in Debian-native packages, apparently... that's getting
unnecessarily technical)
