Thank you Wolfgang,

you put me in the right direction, I realized I had no syslinux.cfg 
because I just copied the ISO file with dd on my usb key, while it is 
recommended here (http://knopper.net/knoppix/knoppix810-en.html) to use 
flash-knoppix.

I'll try that way and let you know.

Anyhow, thank you all for your help, a very friendly mailing list for my 
first post !
