Right. In Knoppix prior to 6.0, you needed to start cups locally from
the menu, but in Knoppix 6.x, it's already running by default.
Point your browser to http://localhost:631 and add a printer. Network
printers in the local network should be autodetected and displayed as
addable choice. For printers in a different subnet, you can use an URL
starting with ipp://ip-address/queue_name or just socket://ip-address,
depending on the protocol supported by the printer.
You can alternately use the cups server running on your main computer as
a bridge to the network printer, if it is set up to be accessible from
computers in the local network. In this case, your main computer should
show up as "cups printer(s)" in the printer administration menu.
