I'd like to remaster my own knoppix. I followed the instructions and
everything works out fine so far. I'm at the point where I use synaptics
to remove all the packages that I don't need for my master.
While removing I directly or indirectly marked artwiz-cursor for being
removed. Something must have gone awry, because there was an error
message during post-removal (2). Now synaptic tries to remove
artwiz-cursor everytime I apply my changes and it always fails. I cannot
remove artwiz-cursor and I cannot reinstall it nor unmark it from
removal. Also my attempt with apt-get and dpkg on the command line fail.
It always ends up in the error message (my translation)
when removing "diversion of /usr/share/fonts/X11/misc/cursor.pcf.gz to
/usr/share/fonts/X11/misc/cursor.pcf.gz-artwiz by artwiz-cursors"
"diversion of /usr/share/fonts/X11/misc/cursor.pcf.gz to
/usr/share/fonts/X11/misc/cursor.pcf.gz-artwiz by artwiz-cursors" found
What can I do?
I would accept both, removal or installation as long as the messages
stop and I can continue mastering.
Looking at my bugreport #341397[1] back in year 2005 try running:
dpkg-divert --remove /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc/cursor.pcf.gz
