I have learned that if I left click on the icon for the nt partition. 
then right click on the same icon and choose read/write access, then 
I get what I (and others) need to read and write files on a ntfs 
partition. Since this file system is the default for MSWin the 
feature we are discussing is essential for practical use of Knoppix 
on MSWin systems.
