There's a "transcript":

It seems Klaus and I finally agree about doomsday. But things are
changing for the best as Linspire and Ubuntu plan to work hand in
hand to offer proprietary software... That's what you call a Debian
offspring, apparently:

Meanwhile, in this goal of ours to proceed towards global
consciousness, wouldn't it be nice if distro maintainers started to
T-A-L-K to each other and came to the conclusion that it's about time
to close ranks and offer MPlayer with all the codecs. Word and Excel
"codecs" is not what the world is after today and ogg is not likely
to acquire world domination anytime soon.
Microsoft, Apple and RealMedia won't get at the developers' guts and
going after MPlayer's would make the stakes all too clear. I believe
that's all Mplayer is waiting to go from "RC16b-try-63" to 1.
*They're* ready! It's time to act!
Now, all those who won't be able to refrain from telling me in private
or public to shut up because IANAP, I would like to remind of this. A
few years ago, Apple, with less than 1% of the Linux developers at
its service, started a project with the equivalent of GNUStep and
FreeBSD, It now has more than 10 times as many desktop users as Linux:
report.aspx?qprid=2&qpmr=15&qpdt=1&qpct=3&qptimeframe=M&qpsp=96>
And the desktop is where the standards are defined.
So, where the hell is that ban-the-suits efficiency of the
all-programmers bazaar?
Meanwhile, if Debian developers could stop pretending that their
distro will only be out on time when all the citizens of the world
will have become Debian programmers -- I personnaly feel just the
opposite --, I would fear less seing my dentist ;)
