[debian-knoppix] One Knoppix - other ideas

This from the excellent LockerGnome

Oh, and while we're geeking out, Lockergnomie Randolph Way informed us about an alternative CD-based Linux distribution; I haven't given it a go in VMware, but the night is still young. "Hi Chris! I see by your of January 26th Report ("Ain't Singin' The Blues") that you're a fan of both Mandrake and Knoppix. Well, 'Texstar,' who's well known in the Mandrake community for creating customized packages for that distro, is heading up a project to create a new flavor called <http://www.pclinuxonline.com/pclos/index.html>PCLinuxOS. It's based on Mandy 9.2, customized, with a truly wonderful selection of applications updated to the latest versions. It fits on a single CD that can be used both on-the-fly (like Knoppix) or permanently, on a hard drive. He's got all the browser plugins preinstalled, like Flash, Java... even RealPlayer. Something I've never seen anywhere else in a downloadable distro, he uses the proprietary video drivers for both nVidia and ATI cards. Alsa drivers are used for the best Linux sound, BTW. Instead of URPMI, an Apt/Synaptic setup is used to update the distro. Beautiful fonts, themes, and lots of eye candy - I could go on and on, but I heartily recommend you check it out. It's amazing!" Even though I have no idea what URPMI stands for at the moment, I'll put this one at the top of my weekend-time-killer list.

Digitally yours,
Chris Pirillo

Are you in dialogue - know what these guys are doing Klaus?
Perhaps sharing knowledge/experience?
