A "dpkg --list ftp*" will show you what is installed. apt-get install proftpd
ftpd- should do the job of deinstalling ftpd and installing proftpd.

For german I would have to look that the LANG setting of the console is
LANG=de_DE@euro. You can change the setting in /etc/sysconfig/i18n.
At www.google.com a search for "spanish text mode LANG=" (without the "") gave
me the needed shortcuts for spanish so change to LANG=ex_MX (don´t ask me
what the MX stands for.

Just by doing the magical "man xvncviewer" I found in the description that
pressing F8 brings you a POP UP Window where you can choose exactly this
function.
