Re: [debian-knoppix] Please, add lithuanian language to knoppix

Hello Mantas,

No problems with lithuanian language support, except for a technical one:

- How do you fit 8MB of locale and font files on a CD that has 0 Bytes
  of space left?

A solution of this problem would be, for example: A local LT user group
volunteers to delete other locale packages (apt-get --purge remove) from
each new download version of Knoppix in order to create a localized LT
version. I will add links to your special lithuanian-enhanced version(s),
if you like, on the Knoppix homepage.

So far, it does not seem possible to add more languages than the ones
which are already present, and I may even have to delete some of these
when existing programs grow in size.

About your other questions:
- There is no Knoppix bugzilla until someone volunteers to create and
  actively maintain one.
- There ARE md5 files on every mirror that provides Knoppix, for every
  image.
- I will check if debsums still fits, for the next release, though
nobody has found this an important missing feature yet.

Regards
-Klaus Knopper

I've tested Knoppix and found, that lithuanian locale should be supported (I tried dpkg-reconfigure locales and found, that lithuanian locale is enabled, also I tried to write some lithuanian symbols in OpenOffice and KDE and tried to start some localised programs like AbiWord). I found these problems:
