[debian-knoppix] Thinkpad 770x sound

I tried knoppix 3.3 on this laptop . It detects the sound chip but fails to
configure it correctly. It says during b0otup,about cant locate sound-slot-0
or something. I tried booting with nopcmcia and noapm to no avail.
Any ideas?
