Yes, I tried it about 2 months ago, and it was VERY "light weight", i.e.
it had no functionality, no configuration interface, no icon management
and no usable menu configuration. I would say, give it another half
year, and it MAY become usable.

Mainly /etc/init.d/knoppix-autoconfig (for allowing this type of
desktop) and /etc/X11/Xsession.d/45xsession (to start the WM
accordingly).
