[debian-knoppix] Problems with Knoppix on IBM ThinkPad TransNote

Hi all,

I am trying to get Knoppix (c't edition) to run on my IBM ThinkPad
TransNote (at least 2 yrs old), trying to test it on exotic hardware.
The TransNote has no drives built-in, so I (try to) boot from an USB floppy
drive and an USB CDROM.
Booting from floppy works fine, I can enter my video mode all right.
After showing "Welcome to the KNOPPIX live Linux-on-CD!" Knoppix tries to
mount the CD (I think).
But KNOPPIX can't find its FS and drops me to a (very limited) shell. Hm so
far...
I try "mount" to see what's mounted and get this:
FAT: bogus logical sector size 17969
FAT: bogus logical sector size 17969
Kernel Panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on 01:01

Anybody any ideas?
