Thanks, Uwe - I'll try that within the next week or two.

After an upgrade to 6.16.7+deb14-amd64 the problem no longer seems to occur -
that is, I have not encountered any 0% battery reports in the taskbar, and the
energy-full-design and related values reported by upower are sensible.

There was a brief moment yesterday where the battery seemed to disappear from
the registered ACPI devices; this caused the battery percentage indicator in
the taskbar to disappear for the duration, replaced by a power-symbol.  The
battery was later redetected and registered again, at which point the
percentage indicator reappeared.
