As you found that 6.15.9 does not expose the issue, might you do the
follwing: Can you try the upstream version 6.13, 6.14, 6.15 to first
determine which one does expose the problem and which not.

Let's say we find 6.13 still exposes the problem but 6.14 does not,
could you then take the additiona bisection step to identify the
fixing commit?

Once that is identified, we can 1. try if that fixes the problem on
top of 6.12.y as well and seondly, if yes, 2. ask stable maintainers
to backport the commit as well to the 6.12.y series. But a first step
could be to identify the fixing commit.

OTOH, we have enough information in the log to forward it upstream,
but given you have assessed that 6.15.9 does not expose the problem it
might be worth take the first further debugging steps to determine the
fixing commit.

Additionally please try with 6.12.41-1 releases and report back if
that still exposed the problem?
