Package: firmware-misc-nonfree Version: 20230210-5 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, installing Debian 12 on an HP ProDesk 400 G5 Mini works fine, but gives the following warning in dmesg: Failed to load DMC firmware i915/kbl_dmc_ver1_04.bin So when installing firmware-misc-nonfree, this firmware file becomes available and is loaded correctly. Unfortunately, this leads to the system crashing every few minutes. I have narrowed it down to the following situation: - When firmware-misc-nonfree is installed, but I delete or rename /lib/firmware/i915/kbl_dmc_ver1_04.bin, the system no longer crashes - With i915/kbl_dmc_ver1_04.bin present and a monitor being connected and turned on, the system no longer crashes - dmesg shows no relevant entry whatsoever, enabling kernel crash dumps crashes the system, but it does not reboot, also no entry in /var/crash -- System Information: Debian Release: 12.1 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable-security'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.1.0-11-amd64 (SMP w/6 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US:en Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled firmware-misc-nonfree depends on no packages. firmware-misc-nonfree recommends no packages. Versions of packages firmware-misc-nonfree suggests: ii initramfs-tools 0.142 -- no debconf information
