Source: linux Version: 6.7.9-2 Severity: normal Hello maintainers of the Linux kernel,Since the upgrade from 6.6.15-2 to 6.7.9-2 in sid, I've noticed in openQA [1] that in grub the boot option intended for safe booting does not result in a bootable VM any more. I've reduced the kernel boot options and 'nolapic' is the single kernel boot parameter that stops the VM from booting properly. This can be seen only in UEFI boots, not when booting from BIOS.I've looked at the code directly related, but did not see anything obvious [2][3].FYI: The option 'nolapic' has been in use for the 'safe boot option' since 2012 in the live images. With kind regards, Roland Clobus PS: No system information attached, as this was sent from my regular PC [1] https://openqa.debian.net/tests/248490#step/bootwalk_1/4Breadcrumb: https://openqa.debian.net/ | Debian Live | xxx_sid_smallest_build | walk-boot-options@uefi | bootwalk_1 [2] https://sources.debian.org/src/linux/6.7.9-2/arch/x86/kernel/apic/apic.c/#L2780 [3] https://sources.debian.org/src/linux/6.6.15-2/arch/x86/kernel/apic/apic.c/#L2782Attachment: OpenPGP_signature.asc

Hi This bug was filed for a very old kernel or the bug is old itself without resolution. If you can reproduce it with - the current version in unstable/testing - the latest kernel from backports please reopen the bug, see https://www.debian.org/Bugs/server-control for details. Regards, Salvatore
