Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
I installed a fresh debian testing in the new Dell Inspiron 16 5620 with all the dependencies and extra packages (non free, contrib) it could require.
At first it had sound problems so i installed the sof-bin package from the github repo (https://github.com/thesofproject/sof-bin/) as asked in a dmesg message such as
[ 5.798199] sof-audio-pci-intel-tgl 0000:00:1f.3: DSP detected with PCI class/subclass/prog-if info 0x040100
[ 5.798270] sof-audio-pci-intel-tgl 0000:00:1f.3: Digital mics found on Skylake+ platform, using SOF driver
[    5.798293] sof-audio-pci-intel-tgl 0000:00:1f.3: enabling device (0000 -> 0002)

[ 5.898550] sof-audio-pci-intel-tgl 0000:00:1f.3: Direct firmware load for intel/sof/sof-adl.ri failed with error -2
[ 5.898559] sof-audio-pci-intel-tgl 0000:00:1f.3: error: sof firmware file is missing, you might need to
[ 5.898560] sof-audio-pci-intel-tgl 0000:00:1f.3: download it from https://github.com/thesofproject/sof-bin/
[ 5.898561] sof-audio-pci-intel-tgl 0000:00:1f.3: error: failed to load DSP firmware -2
[ 5.944236] sof-audio-pci-intel-tgl 0000:00:1f.3: error: sof_probe_work failed err: -2

and everything worked for a day or two.
After a reboot no solution worked and my sound never worked.
My sound gui app says "Salida ficticia" which means "Dummy output"

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?
I installed the firmware-sof-signed package from sid and it wasn't effective at all.
I tried installing all the firmware from the official kernel git repo, not working.

   * What was the outcome of this action?
Same result, it didn't work

   * What outcome did you expect instead?
It to work.

Hi

This bug was filed for a very old kernel or the bug is old itself
without resolution.

If you can reproduce it with

- the current version in unstable/testing
- the latest kernel from backports

please reopen the bug, see https://www.debian.org/Bugs/server-control
for details.

Regards,
Salvatore
