Bug#1042094: initramfs-tools: Please support systemd-cryptsetup unlocked root filesystem
Package: initramfs-tools
Version: 0.142
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: j2468h@gmail.com
Dear Maintainer,
I want to utilize systemd-cryptsetup to unlock an encrypted root
filesystem using e.g. a TPM2.0, or one of the other options offered by
systemd-cryptsetup.
This is supported by dracut, since it uses systemd in the initramfs.
Supporting this would require (optionally) including systemd-cryptsetup in the
initramfs and running it to potentially unlock some devices
automatically.
However, I am not sure if systemd-cryptsetup requires systemd to be running, so
this may or may not depend on #717429 which is unlikely to be implemented.
