Package: firmware-qlogic
Version: 20170823-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

after upgrading to any kernel above 3.x, such as 4.9 or 4.16
on booting, qla2xxx module fails with:

Failed to initialize adapter
Setup chip ****FAILED****
ISP Firmware failed checksum

this happens with qla2100 and qla2200 FC cards. This happens regardless of the FC cards BIOS settings about loading RISC code.
This happens regardless of which version of firmware-qlogic is installed, from what I have found.

After going back and booting a 3.x kernel such as 3.16 , the problem is not there.

Hi

This bug was filed for a very old kernel or the bug is old itself
without resolution.

If you can reproduce it with

- the current version in unstable/testing
- the latest kernel from backports

please reopen the bug, see https://www.debian.org/Bugs/server-control
for details.

Regards,
Salvatore
