No. In order to test the patch, you do need to build a kernel. The instructions from 4.2.2 is the simplest (relatively) way to build a kernel with a patch applied. But AFAIK, before you do the instructions from 4.2.2, you need to do the 'Preparation' steps from 4.2.1 first. > Thanks and my apologies !
