Right after sending that I found https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/
Lenovo_ThinkPad_X1_Yoga_(Gen_4)#NFC which points to
https://github.com/nfc-tools/libnfc/issues/455 and from that it seems highly
likely that the chip that is used is a NXP NCP300 and is likely/probably using
an I2C interface.

In drivers/nfc/nxp-nci/Kconfig there are 2 options:
- NFC_NXP_NCI which mentions NPC300 explicitly
- NFC_NXP_NCI_I2C which is needed when an I2C interface is used.

If you know how to build a Debian kernel, you can add those 2 options and
verify whether that indeed makes your NFC device available (and working).
