Bug#1016150: linux-image-5.10.0-16-amd64: Include SIMD-optimized versions of Adiantum hash function (nhpoly1305)
Package: src:linux
Version: 5.10.127-1
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: shawnlandden@tutanota.com
I was noticing a performance difference in Adiantum
(cryptsetup -c xchacha12,aes-adiantum-plain64 benchmark)
between Debian and Ubuntu and it came down to the kernel config
CONFIG_CRYPTO_NHPOLY1305_SSE2=n
CONFIG_CRYPTO_NHPOLY1305_AVX2=n
(and guessing for arm/arm64:)
CONFIG_CRYPTO_NHPOLY1305_NEON=n
Not sure if I agree with this packaging of having these very short cpu
routines in their own modules (instead of just y/n),
but these should be m if the generic hash is m.
