Package: src:linux Version: 5.3.9-3 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, I have a Lenovo Ideapad 530s with an AMD ryzen cpu. This has been running fine under Debian, since I first bought the computer, although the touchpad does not work after boot. I found a very simple remedy for this using the https://github.com/Syniurge/i2c-amd-mp2 driver, which is supplied as a DKMS build, and simply installed and worked. When I apt upgraded my machine at the start of this week, and moved to a 5.3 series debian kernel, the DKMS build stopped working, and after boot I was surprised to have no trackpad again. I looked at the build problem with the module, and it was a very simple problem, where the prototype for one of the functions from device.h has become slightly more strict. When I submitted this change to the upstream repo, the reply from the author is that the module should be merged into the upstream kernel since releasae 5.2 and a separated build should not be necessary for kernels > 5.1. They report that the debian kernel seems to be exluding this module, but they don't know why. ( see https://github.com/Syniurge/i2c-amd-mp2/pull/14 ) Is there a reason this is not available in the debian kernel image? Do I need to install additional packages, or perhaps make such a package myself. Thanks cms -- Package-specific info: ** Version: Linux version 5.3.0-2-amd64 (debian-kernel@lists.debian.org) (gcc version 9.2.1 20191109 (Debian 9.2.1-19)) #1 SMP Debian 5.3.9-3 (2019-11-19) ** Command line: BOOT_IMAGE=/vmlinuz-5.3.0-2-amd64 root=/dev/mapper/blink--vg-root ro quiet ** Tainted: OE (12288) * Out-of-tree module has been loaded. * Unsigned module has been loaded. ** Kernel log: (Note that use of the override may cause unknown side effects.)
