Package: linux-image-3.2.0-4-orion5x
Severity: critical
Tags: d-i upstream
Justification: breaks the whole system

Dear Maintainer,

I've got an old D-Link DNS-323 NAS box that I've been using for ARM
development for a number of years (Thanks, guys, for supporting it).
Anyway, I upgraded from Stable to Testing (Squeeze -> Wheezy) a few
weeks ago and that bricked the box completely. Or that's what I
thought - so I soldered myself a serial cable to see what was
happening with the box. Turns out it was kernel panicking while
booting, so I naturally assumed it was just a flashing gone wrong.

So, yesterday I downloaded the latest Wheezy installer for DNS-323
and set out ot resuce the box:

http://ftp.nl.debian.org/debian/dists/testing/main/installer-armel/current/images/orion5x/network-console/d-link/dns-323/netboot.img

Installer starts up nicely in low memory mode, but as soon as I start
playing with Partman and especially MD RAID devices, it reliably
kernel panics every time. If I dd the disks empty I can do whatever
I want and it works - make one RAID1 set and it panics right away.

So, I can only assume there's some upstream bug related to md devices
with orion5 boxes. I don't know if anyone maintains this port anymore,
but if not then you might want to take the Wheezy installers offline
because they seem to brick all boxes where they are installed.

- Kim
