Bug#992251: Select `CONFIG_X86_PLATFORM_DRIVERS_DELL` for Dell devices (regression)
Package: linux-image-5.13.0-trunk-amd64
Version: 5.13.9-1~exp2
Severity: normal
Dear Debian folks,
Linux commit f1e1ea5167 (platform/x86: Move all dell drivers to their
own subdirectory), present since v5.12-rc1, refactored Dell device
related code, introducing the new Kconfig option
`X86_PLATFORM_DRIVERS_DELL` is not set
$ diff -u /boot/config-5.10.0-8-amd64
/boot/config-5.13.0-trunk-amd64 | grep DELL
-CONFIG_DELL_SMBIOS=m
-CONFIG_DELL_SMBIOS_WMI=y
-CONFIG_DELL_SMBIOS_SMM=y
-CONFIG_DELL_LAPTOP=m
-CONFIG_DELL_RBTN=m
-CONFIG_DELL_RBU=m
-CONFIG_DELL_SMO8800=m
-CONFIG_DELL_WMI=m
-CONFIG_DELL_WMI_DESCRIPTOR=m
-CONFIG_DELL_WMI_AIO=m
-CONFIG_DELL_WMI_LED=m
+# CONFIG_X86_PLATFORM_DRIVERS_DELL is not set
On the Dell Latitude E75250, not selecting this causes the function key
for microphone (un-)mute and Wifi (de-)activation to stop working [1].
It’d be great if the Dell platform drivers could be built again.
Kind regards,
Paul
