Package: src:linux
Version: 4.7.8-1
Severity: important

Dear Mantainer,

I've installed debian testing with non-free firmware some days ago on Asus E200HA
and I've noticed this bug, which has already been reported (bug #841007 on
bugreporter for kernel 4.8, bug #833016 on debian-kernel mailing list).

I haven't installed any default graphical interface. When, after boot, the login
console appears, by pressing any key the system immediately shuts down. I manage to
use the laptop connecting an USB keyboard.

I have noticed some things:
- by removing i2c_hid module, pressing any key doesn't cause shutdown (but of course
the keyboard won't work anyway).
- in recovery mode, the keyboard doesn't work, but again here pressing any key
doesn't cause shutdown.
- in /proc/bus/input/devices the laptop keyboard seems to be missing. The output is
pasted below.
- I don't know if it's connected anyhow, but the following error comes up at boot
(pasted from dmesg):
  [ 2.921049] i8042: Can't read CTR while initializing i8042
  [ 2.921411] i8042: probe of i8042 failed with error -5

I haven't tried any other kernel yet.

Kind regards,
Elisa
