Dear Maintainer,

I'm using a Thinkpad T440s and an Ultradock, which allows to connect multiple digital screens on a single DisplayPort link using MST. MST is supported since kernel 3.17. Using both different versions of Linux 3.17 and 3.18 (all from the repositories), undocking the laptop results in either a kernel crash when undocking, sometimes when changing the display configuration next time (using xrandr or arandr), and very rarely without a crash, but not recognizing the changes in the connected display set any more. This is very annoying, as forgetting to shutdown the computer before undocking renders the computer unusable with a hard reset of the running system.

I could not find reports of this bug for the kernel, but there's a similar report for xserver-org [1], with different Thinkpad models and docking stations, but MST as a common cause.

I attached a syslog excerpt of the crashing xorg server and kernel. If any further crashdumps, -logs or whatever would be helpful at finding this issue, I will gladly add all information required (and well, I can easily reproduce the issue).

Kind regards from Lake Constance, Germany,
Jens Erat
