[Reporting this bug running 3.8.2, which works...]

On 3.8.3, the kernel (and X11) pick 1024x768, instead of 1366x768 (the
pannel's native resolution, and highest).

Also, on 3.8.3, it always believes VGA1 is connected (even when its
not). Further, it never believes HDMI1 is connected (eve when it is).
And when you connect HDMI1, xrandr shows the probed modes under VGA1.
Its not just labels being swapped; turning on VGA1 doesn't work.
Manually adding a mode to HDMI1, then turning it on does work—though
HDMI audio does not.

I'll attach the dmesg from 3.8.3 as well, though I don't see any real
differences (other than the console size, from getting the mode wrong, I
assume).

I'll attach both Xorg logs, from them it looks like Xorg is picking the
wrong size to attempt to compromise between the panel and phantom VGA1.

[This laptop has an actual VGA1 connector, nothing is connected to it
currently.]
